Pearl Harbor

Okay.. so we finished WW2 in Europe and have moved on to the Pacific. In class today, we learned about Pearl Harbor and the United States entrance into the war. We made a tree map which discussed the causes, warnings, attack, and effects of Pearl Harbor. We also watched a documentary on Pearl Harbor called THE WAR by Ken Burns. It was very insightful. 1st and 3rd periods then wrote a letter to Mr. Roosevelt describing the attack as if they were there. They did an AMAZING job. Friday we will be watching a video called MANZANAR, which describes Japanese Internment Camps, which happens to be one of the effects of Pearl Harbor.

Have a great weekend See you on Monday!!!

The Holocaust

Today in Class we learned about the Holocaust. Though we only covered it briefly, we saw how Hitler persecuted the Jewish people in stages in order to DEHUMANIZE them and create an "us" vs. "them" scenario. We did not go into great detail about the Holocaust, but we did see some images and witnessed how this was one of the world atrocities of the 21st century.

Wars in Europe

So for the last 2 class periods we have been learning about the WW2 in Europe. We made a flow chart together in class that featured 9 events that happened in Europe during WW2. From that flow chart the class answered comprehension questions and wrote a paragraph about the sequence of events that occurred in Europe that lead to Victory in Europe Day.Hitler then committed suicide an Mussolini was executed.
